Let's start with the news that's highest up on the fun scale. We put the final mixing stamp on our next album on Sunday evening over at Old Blackberry Way. We're pretty jazzed on how it's all turned out. The album doesn't have a name yet, but it's going to be our first LP, coming in at a mammoth 10-songs and 34ish minutes. Who even has time for an undertaking of such magnitude anymore? Hopefully you, I guess. Look for it on cassette and digital later this year.
We're also playing some shows. That's also fun news. Here's the current slate:
Wednesday, July 29
Turf Club, Saint Paul, MN w/ Ringo Deathstarr and VATS. 8:00pm, 21+, $8/$10. More info.
Saturday, August 15
Kitty Cat Klub, Minneapolis, MN w/ Ego Death (Tape Release), Fury Things, Strange Relations. 9:00pm, 21+, $5. More info.
Saturday, August 29

Stay tuned for a big announcement about dates in October, coming hopefully soon. In the meantime, check out our split EP with Fury Things over at the BandCamp.
Our next release is coming out Wednesday, February 25th. It's a split EP with Fury Things. It's called "Split EP." Get the picture? Two tracks from each band. A whole shitload of guitars. It's really good.
It will be released for free online and we'll have some CDs available for limited purchase (like for whatever's in your pockets). Here's what's on it:
1. Some Things
2. Summer Bummer
3. No Fate
4. Heaven (Talking Heads)
There's a super legit release show happening on the 25th at the Turf Club. Fury Things, Brilliant Beast, and Catbath. $5. 21+. Be there.
Watch out for the music video for "No Fate" to drop later this week. Too hot to handle, man. Too hot.

Brilliant Beast's debut LP Dissolve rockets beyond the sonic landscape sketched out on their debut EP Where Do You Want (2013, Guilt Ridden Pop), leaving a tight collection of songs steeped in shoegaze and heavy fuzz. The ten songs comprising Dissolve find the band crafting darker, heavier, menacing tones to encompass the skeletons of the dual-vocal pop compositions of sister/brother duo Hannah and Jordan Porter. Anchored by bassist Mark Kartarik and drummer Eric Whalen, the songs on Dissolve speed along with kraut-like precision, mixing rumbling drone with crashing reverb and jagged riffs. From the blistering chainsaw attack of lead single “No Fate” to the Jekyll and Hyde buoyancy of “Favorite House,” Dissolve captures the spirit of shoegaze progenitors such as Ride and Jesus and Mary Chain while injecting their own spit-shine on the genre.
Dissolve was recorded over three late spring days in Minneapolis at The Old Blackberry Way with Neil Weir engineering and mixing the record, and was mastered at Magneto Mastering by Bruce Templeton. Dissolve will be released Friday, November 6, on limited edition cassette and digital.
“Bands like Brilliant Beast don’t often get the mainstream attention they deserve. There’s a great appeal to how they and their fuzz-pop contemporaries fuse dirge-y, echoey guitars with soft, appealing melodies. Their debut, seven-tracker Where Do You Want, is a brilliant showcase of how dynamic and gorgeous the genre can be…Brilliant Beast have produced here a tight album with no filler whatsoever. A definitive guide to fuzz-pop -definitely worth your attention.”
“Between smartly employed waves of distortion, ripping punk chords, and shifting male-female lead vocals, there’s a little something in each song that’ll stoke the serotonin levels like side one of Electr-O-Pura. It doesn’t take long for this addictive little record—at seven songs, more like a mini-LP—to set in.”
“There’s an old school pop-punk sensibility, to sing irreverent and feverous lyrics at a strong-willed, bullheaded pace, but then there’s the musical decency to add shoegaze and dream-pop to the mix. WHAT!? Are bands allowed to do that?... I don’t know what to make of this album, but I do know that it’s fucking great, and it’s fucking original.”
We just completed the first two nights of our January residency at Cause Spirits and Sound Bar, playing some ripping shows with the likes of Strange Relations, Fury Things, Bear, and Falcon Arrow. You still have two more Wednesdays to come out and catch a free show, starting with January 22nd featuring us and the mysterious C.Kostra and the dreampop of Almitra. It'll all close down on January 29th with the debut performance from garage rockers Hot Cellars and the AM Radio vibes of Ruben.
We'll have more show announcements soon about upcoming gigs in February through April, hopefully with some out of town dates popping up.
